Job Description:

As a Barclays Network Engineer you will work in Infrastructure Services, this is the central team that develops and supports IT infrastructure of the bank. It is built up from a variety of teams including Hosting services, Collaboration services and service management which you will work alongside on a daily basis. You will supply quality network operational support and analytical skills to Barclays Business & Technical areas as a member of the EMEA Network Support team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensuring all tasks are recorded and completed in a professional and structured manner
• You will assess any existing network device and review / amend as required in a controlled manner
• Taking key decisions in respect of the impact of any fault or change on users and existing infrastructure
• You will be capable of liaising with other technology business areas and 3rd party vendors in pursuit of resolving the problem or communicating progress
• Assessing the network via the use of knowledge you will use available tools to identify and resolve faults
• You will identify possible network affecting situations, faulty hardware or logical problems

Job Requirements:

• Experience of network support within a large institution
• Qualified Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
• Working knowledge of the following routing & bridging protocols: (BGP, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, Etherchannel)
• Working knowledge of Firewall platforms and Load Balancing platforms

Qualification & Experience:

• Hands-on experience with the design of multi-national enterprise switched and Layer 3 LAN’s
• Experience of working within a large multiple-site, multi-protocol LAN & WAN
• Working knowledge and design of multicast enabled LAN/WANs
• Qualified Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
