Job Description: This job contributes to Starbucks success by planning and executing multiple and complex assigned projects related to the development of packaging solutions that supports the successful execution of company initiatives. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles. Job Responsibilities: Leads strategic packaging programs in support of near and long term corporate Global Sustainability goals Leads packaging initiatives that contribute to improved customer experience and operational optimization, example cost reductions, capacity and efficiency optimization. Builds consensus across functions as project team leader on complex projects and initiatives. Provides Global consultation and leadership across areas of responsibility. Particularly in the area of sustainable choices and ensuring they align with our enterprise objectives. Ability to perform analysis and make recommendations tackling tradeoffs across consumer experience, operational goals, cost, quality and sustainability. Conducts research into cutting edge or leading technologies that serve as enablers to delivering relevant innovation to the enterprise. Understands and has a working knowledge of packaging materials and equipment and how they interact. Experience with expertise in injection molding, IML, and working knowledge of flexible barrier materials, paperboard, corrugated, thermoplastics, conversion, and related manufacturing operations. Understands consumer insights driven design principles and human centered design. Experienced with designing and running packaging performance testing in plants, on the bench, and through distribution channels to ensure acceptable packaging performance and product/package quality. Applies detail to writing and managing packaging material, and process specifications and change management processes. Develops and engages packaging suppliers for problem solving, new materials and package format evaluation, and to meet design objectives, hit cost targets, and ensure sustainability targets are achieved. Investigates, tests, and validates new packaging technologies, cost reductions, and design optimizations.
